Mgr. Romana Šubrtová (* 1. 3. 1968, Praha)
Studovala kresbu a malbu nejprve soukromě u ak. soch. Bohumila Krause, později výtvarnou výchovu na Pedagogické fakultě UK v Praze, kde ji ovlivnili zejména PeadDr. Jan Svoboda a doc. ak. mal. Jiří Kornatovský. Od roku 1991 působila jako učitelka výtvarné výchovy na základní škole a začala se věnovat metodice výuky výtvarné výchovy a obecně problematice dětského výtvarného projevu. Se svými žáky se účastnila celostátních přehlídek dětské výtvarné tvorby, kde jejich projekty získaly několik ocenění. V roce 2017 na přehlídce ve Zlíně převzala ocenění za celoživotní přínos výtvarnému oboru.
Sama se věnuje kresbě a malbě, okrajově grafice a keramice. Vytvořila cyklus padesáti ilustrací na pohádkové motivy. Zde se projevila tendence k surrealistickému vidění a poetickému cítění. Svými ilustracemi se prezentovala také v časopisech.
V minulosti v Praze vystavovala kresby a koláže v galerii Scarabeus a v Café Lokál, malby v Club Pub baru U Bráchy na Výtoni a v prostorách budovy Městské části Praha 10. Poslední výstavu měla na Starém Městě v Galerii U Zlatého kohouta, kde se účastní i skupinových výstav.
V současnosti se zabývá více figurální malbou, většinou upřednostňuje velká plátna.
Pracuje s barevnou pastou, která ji fascinuje. Zajímá ji vztah tvaru, který definuje lidskou postavu, k okolí… Všímá si náhodně vzniklých ploch. Přebudovává a zjednodušuje prostor kolem figur. Někdy využívá monotypický otisk a různé postupy v malbě. Více pracuje s kontrastem. V malbě se uplatňoval kresebný princip, kdy se plochy zvýraznily barevnými liniemi… experimentuje s omezenou kontrastní barevností.
V roce 2018 se s přestávkami zabývala dvěma projekty Člověk na pláži, u vody, odpočívající a Člověk s posunutým vnímáním, pod vypětím, s omezenou schopností komunikovat. Tento projekt byl představen na květnové výstavě Emoce v galerii U zlatého kohouta v roce 2019.
Zde, v Pasáži českého designu představuje výběr z let 2017 - 2020, kde pracuje také s tématem vztahu člověka k přírodě. Do této kolekce byly vybrány obrazy, kde převládají modré odstíny, a to přispívá ke vzniku uceleného dojmu tohoto výběru.
V exkluzivním výtvarném projektu ARTVARIUM představuje tvorbu Romany Šubrtové kurátorka PhDr. Renáta Mužíková, Ph.D.

Has learned the basics of drawing and painting privately form and academical sculptor Bohumil Kraus at first, followed up with Art Education at Faculty of Education at the Charles University, where she was heavily influenced by PeaDr. Jan Svoboda and an academic painter Doc. Jiří Kornatovský.
Since the year 1991 she has pursued the career of an Arts teacher on a primary school, tackling the problematics of Children's art expression. She has become an active member of the AVP (associacion of Arts Educators) and has cooperated with then a Science research facility (VÚP Prague). Later she has helped with the implementation of an education reform of arts and culture. With her students she has been part of many state-wide exhibitions of Children's art, where her projects recieved much praise. For example: Last year on an exhibition in Zlín she has recieved an award for her lifetime work in the field of art.

She spends her time with drawing, painting and occasionaly with Graphics desing and and ceramics. In the past she has had exhibitions of her drawings and Collages in the Scarabeus gallery and Café Lokal. As for her paintings, those have been on exhibit in the ''U Bráchy'' club-pub bar on Výtoň. Her last work could have been seen seen at the U Zlatého Kohouta Gallery in the Old town district
She has also created a cycle of 50 fairy-tale themed illustrations, Where she has expressed her tendency for surreal vision of reality and he poetic aptitude. Her illustrations were also to be seen in quite a few magazines.
As of now she has taken the direction of Figure painting, where she mostly prefers to use large canvas.
We can see her working with vivid coloured paste, which fascinates her. She is interested in the relationship of shape, which defines the human figure and the contrast with it's surroundings. She takes notice of randomly generated surfaces, then rebuilds them and simplifies the area around her Figures. We can also sometimes see her using the monotypic print and various other different approaches regarding her paintings. She works more with contrast and a draw-like principle, where she uses pronounced coloured lines.
In the year 2018 she has worked on two large projects and here you can see the 2 paintings that represent her work. A painting called ‚před usnuitím‘ (moments before sleep) falls into the ‚summer‘ theme of a man on beach, resting. That allows for a depiction of a lightly dressed body as it is, in it’s true nature, characteristic, non-conventional. Specifically on ‚před usnutím‘ you can see Romana push the color vividness in the background. It is a tool, with which she has started to experiment here, interested more in the colorful surface. The second oil painitng ‚unavená‘ (weary) represents a second big theme and that is: Human with enhanced perception, distressed, with a limited capability to communicate.
Here, in the Passage of Czech Design, she is presenting a selection from the years 2017-2020, where she also works with the theme of our relationship with nature. To stress this relationship, the selected paintings selected are ones with dominant blue tones.
